Rory at the book sale: Letters to a Young Poet
Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) · The Stars Hollow book fundraiser
Stars Hollow holds a buy-a-book fundraiser and Rory walks out with stacks. Two titles are readable on screen, Rilke and a courtroom play. A town that holds a meeting about everything sends her home with a play about a town that put a teacher on trial.

1Letters to a Young Poet
Rilke wrote these ten letters between 1903 and 1908 to a 19-year-old military cadet who'd mailed him some poems. The advice boils down to go inside yourself, which Rory has been doing with a book in her hand since the pilot.

2Inherit the Wind
Lawrence and Lee's 1955 play fictionalizes the 1925 Scopes trial, and they wrote it with McCarthyism in mind. Taylor Doose would have chaired the prosecution.
