What it tells you
Rory reads outside Doose's while Lane does the shopping, because Dean works there and the breakup is still fresh. She brings Joyce for the stakeout. Nothing says I'm totally fine like the hardest novel of the century outside a grocery store.

The book
Ulysses
James Joyce · 1922 · novel
The whole novel covers one day in Dublin, June 16, 1904. It was banned in the US until a federal judge cleared it in 1933, and Rory only has to wait for Lane to buy groceries.
