Jess in Rory's room: Howl and Other Poems
Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia) · Rory's bedroom
At dinner at Lorelai's, Jess pockets Rory's copy of Howl off her shelf even though she'd already offered to lend it to him. It comes back with his notes in the margins. The Annotated Gilmore Girls reads that as flirting, and the rest of season 2 backs them up.

Howl and Other Poems
City Lights published it in 1956 as number four in the Pocket Poets series, and customs and the San Francisco police went after it until a judge ruled it wasn't obscene in 1957. Jess says he's read it about forty times, so he already knew which lines to underline.
