Luke Cage · S1 E13 · US Marshal · Marshals' transport back to Seagate
The marshal reads Chester Himes
Chester Himes published The Heat's On in 1966, one of his Harlem detective novels starring Coffin Ed Johnson and Grave Digger Jones, written while he was living in France. It became the 1972 film Come Back, Charleston Blue. Luke Cage made his comic book debut that same year, so the marshal is reading the competition.
