The book
Don Quixote
Miguel de Cervantes · 1605 · novel
Cervantes published part one in 1605, and it gets called the first modern novel more than anything else does. It's about a man who reads so many books he decides he's the hero of one, which is a bold thing for Joe to hand anybody.
