Reece's third try with Ben: Once an Eagle

In the premiere, James Reece hands Ben Edwards a copy of Once an Eagle, and it's the third one he's given him. Ben still hasn't read it. Jack Carr calls it a book on leadership, and he used to hand it to SEAL leaders as they started out. Reece is trying to fix Ben's character with a 1968 paperback, and anyone who saw The Terminal List knows how that goes.

The book
Once an Eagle
Anton Myrer's 1968 novel follows Sam Damon from private to general on merit, with Courtney Massengale climbing beside him on connections. West Point cadets get it as required reading, and the lesson Carr pulls from it is "See to your character and your reputation will take care of itself." Ben is on copy three and page zero.
